postcards

Postcards are one of the most popular affordable options for mailers! I’ve worked with lots of small businesses and organizations to design postcards because they’re effective & easy. In addition to the postcard, you just need a stamp! Other types of mailing pieces require envelopes, or additional postage which takes time to assemble and is more costly. I use postcards to send a little happy mail to my clients and retailers but there’s many other ways you can utilize them:

  • Order Thank You’s - put these in your shipments as a thank you note that doubles as a print! You could even switch them up every couple of months so repeat customers get new postcards.

  • Seasonal Cheer - create a design for different holidays and send it out to your clients or top customers. Pick a holiday that feels on-brand and achievable for you! For me, I usually mail things out during February/Valentines as it’s a month full of pink (so it’s on brand) and it’s a slower time in my schedule so it’s feasible.

  • Birthdays - remind a customer that you’re thinking of them during their special day! You could send these for personal birthdays or business birthdays. Keep track of birthdays in a spreadsheet and mail the entire month’s at a time so it’s more doable!

  • Follow Ups - do you have a lead that hasn’t booked yet? Send some mail and that may be the reminder and/or push they need to complete the booking!

  • Kick Offs - get clients excited once they have booked! Postcards are great for sending a little note to thank clients for booking and create an excitement around what’s to come.

  • Spread the Word - carry a few on your in your bag or keep some in your car to pass out with your information in case you come across a potential connection. You can also bring them to networking events - way cooler than handing out business cards!

  • Freebies - give them out at tradeshows or other events.

  • Sell them - they also make a great product in a retail line! If you have a retail space in a place with tourists, want to commemorate a special event or create a tribute to your hometown, postcards are a great option! They can be customized and created exclusively to your line and are a low-cost item for people to purchase.

TIP: On your client intake forms, ask for their mailing address and/or birthday!

BONUS: Often times people post these postcards or stickers on their social medias once they receive them. So, you get exposure there as well! Surprising clients/retailers/customers and marketing your business? That’s what I call a win-win!

DESIGN TIPS:

  • If you’re mailing them out yourself, put your address in the bottom right corner (covered for privacy in these photos) so you don’t have to handwrite the return address or use a sticker, etc. Saves you time and money to include it on the back design!

  • Keep it on brand and utilize your brand colors, fonts, elements and more. This will continue to create brand recognition and help market your business in a way that’s on brand and consistent.

  • Utilize the proofing tools that UPrinting has available and make sure you proofread and spell check everything!

  • They offer a variety of sizes but these are the 5x7” size and I feel like it’s the perfect choice.

kiss-cut stickers

Stickers are such a great item for marketing your business! Kiss-cut stickers are even better because you can include branding and a message on the background. Need some ideas on how to incorporate these into your business? See some ideas below:

  • Freebies & Swag Bags - some events and markets require swag bag donations and kiss-cut stickers are a great contribution!

  • Thank You’s - include them in orders as a little thank you! You can also use these as gift with purchase items where you include them for orders over a certain amount.

  • Create designs for specific events - I gave these out during pop-up shops, markets and events during Women’s History Month!

  • Incentives - offer a free sticker for a follow on Instagram, TikTok and/or Facebook when you’re at events!

  • Prize Wheel - these are a fun idea! I haven’t tried it yet but it would be a fun addition to your vendor booth. Offer these as one of the prizes!

  • Giveaways & Donations - often times you’ll be asked to participate in giveaways or donation events and branded items like this are great to have on hand.

NOTE: These are the 3x3” size!

signage

UPrinting has a wide variety of products and items to help you market your small business. Last summer, I partnered with UPrinting to create this A-Frame sign that is durable, high quality and sure to make a statement. This large sign features two sides that you can switch out depending on the event, the season or special promotions that you have going on! To learn more about this sign and to see it in action, click here!

I designed one side to work for markets when I’m setup with my product shop, Daisy, and the other side is perfect for when I’m on-site at a mural. Two uses and one sign with endless possibilities to swap them out.
