by a thread boutique

Emily came to me with an existing logo and set of fonts for her boutique, By a Thread, but needed additional assets to bring her brand to life. These assets included printed inserts and cards to be included in orders shipped from the boutique. A few years later, Emily is expanding By a Thread to also include a new storefront specializing in clothing for littles called Thread Baby. Emily’s stores are located in the small town of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania and it is full of that small town charm with interesting architecture. I wanted this charming characteristic of the boutique to come through to customer’s who order online instead of visiting the store. To solve for this, I illustrated the different buildings, complete with mannequins and cute depictions of items in the windows. I also created a few other illustrations to add some character to the backs of the return policy inserts, printed materials with store hours, reward point instructions and more. Lastly, I illustrated a design depicting a shirt pocket with some flowers coming out of the pocket - these flowers are the state flower of Pennsylvania, the Mountain-Laurel. Emily had a PA local small business embroider these to sell in the boutique!

For Thread Baby, I designed a few printed pieces with a cutesy, warm feel to them. Emily wanted Thread Baby to stand alone but also feel cohesive with By a Thread. I used the warmer colors from the By a Thread color palette to compliment the charm of the storefront location.

For the holiday season, I designed a new Christmas Card for By a Thread including an old taxi with the By a Thread logo on it. I love designing seasonal assets for small businesses - it’s the perfect touch!
